Ambassador Ren Yisheng pays farewell courtesy calls to President Weah and other senior politicians

On February 14, Ambassador Ren Yisheng paid a farewell courtesy call to H.E. Dr. George Manneh Weah, President of the Republic of Liberia, and recently farewell to H.E. Chief Dr. Jewel Howard-Taylor, Vice President of the Republic of Liberia, Hon. Dr. Bhofal Chambers, Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Albert T. Chie, President Pro-Tempore of the Liberian Senate and other senior politicians of the Liberian government.

When meeting with President Weah, Ambassador Ren conveyed President Xi Jinping's cordial greetings to him. Ren said that China and Liberia are good friends, good brothers and good partners. China has always attached great importance to China-Liberia relations, vigorously assisted Liberia in maintaining peace and stability, and helped Liberia achieve prosperity and development. Ren introduced the recent progress of China-Liberia economic and trade cooperation and other fields to President Weah, and said that China would further strengthen cooperation with Liberia in infrastructure, agriculture, people-to-people and cultural exchanges and other fields. Ren appreciated Liberia's adherence to the one-China principle and its legislation, thanked President Weah for the importance he attached to the development of China-Liberia relations, and thanked Liberia for the convenience it provided for its performance of its duties. Ren said that Liberia would hold a general election this year and wished it a success.

President Weah asked Ambassador Ren to convey his cordial greetings and high respect to President Xi Jinping, appreciated China for its contribution to the development of Liberia, reaffirm that Liberia will continue to firmly adhere to the one-China principle, and look forward to working with China to strengthen bilateral relations and keep the friendship between Liberia and China moving forward. President Weah expressed regret for the departure of Ambassador Ren, especially thanked Ambassador Ren for his contribution to the promotion of China-Liberia relations, and stressed that he cherished the time of exchanges with Ambassador Ren very much.

When meeting with Vice President Taylor, Ambassador Ren said that China attaches great importance to the development of friendly relations between China and Liberia, and the results of bilateral cooperation are obvious to all. Ren appreciated Taylor's active promotion of friendly cooperation between China and Liberia and its commitment to the development of the cause of vulnerable groups, and said that China would continue to provide support within its capabilities.

Vice President Taylor appreciated China for its contribution to the social and economic development of Liberia, Praising China's aid to Liberia and Africa has always been suited the action to the word. Vice President Taylor also expressed regret for Ambassador Ren's departure, and particularly thanked Ambassador Ren for his great attention and great help to the work of Jewel Starfish Foundation and the Group of 77 in Liberia under his leadership.

When meeting with Speaker Chambers and President Pro-Tempore Chie, Ambassador Ren appreciated the legislature of Liberia for confirming its adherence to the one-China principle in the form of legislation, which lay a solid foundation for the stability and long-term development of China-Liberia friendly cooperative relations. He thanked the two houses of Congress for their attention and support to the exchanges and cooperation between the legislative bodies of the two countries, and hoped to continue to strengthen the all-round exchanges and cooperation between China and Liberia, including the legislature.

Speaker Chambers and President Pro-Tempore Chie appreciated the Chinese government for practicing the concept of a community with a shared future for mankind, helping Liberia maintain peace and stability, and carrying out a series of major projects to assist Liberia, for which the government and people of Liberia are deeply grateful. Speaker Chambers and President Pro-Tempore Chie also expressed regret for Ambassador Ren's departure and highly appreciated Ambassador Ren's contribution to the friendly and pragmatic cooperation between China and Liberia. We look forward to working with the Chinese side to further strengthen the communication between the legislative bodies of the two countries and promote the in-depth development of bilateral exchanges and cooperation in various fields.

Recently, H.E. Dee-Maxwell Saah Kemayah, Foreign Minister of Liberia, held a farewell reception for Ambassador Ren, and the leadership of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Liberia and the diplomatic envoys in Liberia attended.
