Chargé d'Affaires Mr. Xu Kun attends the Pre-departure Reception for Trainees to China and donated nutritional supplies to the Ministry of Education of Liberia

On April 28th, the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in Liberia held the Pre-departure Reception for Trainees to China and donated nutritional supplies to the Ministry of Education of Liberia. H.E. Dee-Maxwell Saah Kemayah, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Hon. Ansu Sonii, Minister of Education, Hon. Wilhelmina Jallah, Minister of Health, Hon. Patrick Sudue, Inspector General of Liberia National Police, Hon. Nyenati Tuan, Deputy Minister of Justice, Mr. Jerry Brown, CEO and General Administrator of JFK Medical Center, representatives of the 15th Chinese medical team to Liberia and representative of media reporters attended the activity.


In his speech, Mr. Xu stated that 57 students from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Liberia, the Liberia National Police, and JFK Hospital of Liberia are about to undergo short-term training in China. This training is a concrete manifestation of China-Liberia's friendship and a concrete action taken by China to sincerely help Liberia's economic and social development. We would like to extend our most sincere congratulations to the Liberian students. In the past decade, China-Liberia relations have achieved tremendous achievements. For the future, China is willing to engage in more cooperation with Liberia on the basis of equality, mutual respect, non-interference in internal affairs, and win-win cooperation, and work together to build a community with a shared future between China and Liberia.


In his speech, Foreign Minister Kemayah expressed gratitude on behalf of the Liberian government for the training program provided by the Chinese side, stating that these 57 students come from different regions and social classes in Liberia and believe that they will all benefit greatly from this training. This training not only empowers youth and women, but also adds more value to government departments, thereby promoting peace and stability in society. He expressed gratitude to the Chinese side for providing assistance to the economic and social development of Liberia, and expressed the wish for a long-lasting friendship between China and Liberia.


Subsequently, Minister Sonii, Minister Jallah, Deputy Minister Tuan, Inspector General Sudue, CEO Brown, and representatives of students studying in China delivered speeches, expressing gratitude to the Chinese government and embassy in Liberia for providing valuable opportunities for studying abroad, and hoping to strengthen cooperation with China in various fields in the future. Students have expressed that their career development will benefit from the opportunity to study abroad in China. They will abide by laws and regulations in China, study hard, and contribute to the development of Liberia after returning home, becoming envoys for promoting China-Liberia friendship.


Before the reception, Mr. Xu also attended a brief ceremony to donate rice and other nutritional products to the Ministry of Education of Liberia. On behalf of the Chinese Embassy in Liberia, he donated a batch of student nutritional products, including rice and milk powder, to the Ministry of Education of Liberia. Mr. Xu and Minister Sonii jointly signed the handover certificate on behalf of China and Liberia. Minister Sonii expressed deep gratitude to China for its assistance and stated that the Liberian side will make the most of the donated materials to ensure that the aid is used for the benefit of impoverished students.
