On August 16, 2024, the Liberian government held a groundbreaking ceremony for the China-Aid Refurbishment and Expansion Project of Liberia Broadcasting System, on the occasion of which H.E. Joseph Nyuma Boakai, Sr., President of the Republic of Liberia and H.E. Yin Chengwu, Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China in Liberia attended and delivered speeches. Hon. Dillon, the Chairman of the Committee on Information , Broadcasting and Foreign Affairs of Liberia Senate, Hon. Benson, the Chairman of the Committee on Information and Broadcasting of House of Representatives, Hon. Piah, the Minister of Information, Culture Affairs and Tourism, Hon. Eugene,the Director General of Liberia Broadcasting System and other senior government officials also attended the ceremony. Ambassador Yin Chengwu articulated in his speech that the refurbishment and expansion project is not only a milestone in the history of LBS, but also the key driver in deepening China-Liberia friendship and cooperation. Ambassador Yin Chengwu emphasized that the project will play a critical role in meeting spiritual and cultural demands, with the purpose of propelling societal progress. In his statement, President Boakai thanked the Chinese Government for its generous support, highlighted that China is a good friend and good partner. President Boakai emphasized that the project is not only an important example of infrastructure construction and technical assistance, but also a manifestation of China's commitment to supporting Liberia's economic and social development. By taking advantage of the project, Liberian Government will provide better news, information services and quality education for the people , promoting the progress of various causes. Other guests in their respective statements, hoped that Liberia would make perfect use of the project in order to provide better radio and television services, promoting economic and societal development and progress. |
