Wang Yi Meets with Kazakh Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mukhtar Tileuberdi

On July 28, 2022 local time, State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with Kazakh Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mukhtar Tileuberdi on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) foreign ministers' meeting in Tashkent.

Wang Yi said, in February this year, President Xi Jinping had fruitful meetings with President Kassym-Jomart Kemelevich Tokayev, and negotiated and agreed to jointly usher in the next three golden decades of China-Kazakhstan relations, thus charting the course for the long-term development of bilateral ties. The two sides should follow through on the important consensus reached by the two heads of state and turn the consensus into practical outcomes, continue to enrich the connotation of the China-Kazakhstan permanent comprehensive strategic partnership, and push forward the sound and steady development of bilateral relations. China stands ready to further expand and strengthen China-Kazakhstan cooperation with the high-quality Belt and Road cooperation as the main task, accelerate the negotiation and conclusion of the cooperation plan in economy and trade, the latest investment protection agreement, and the cooperation plan in production capacity and investment between the governments of the two countries, and prioritize the implementation of more livelihood projects in Kazakhstan.

Tileuberdi spoke highly of the development of the China-Kazakhstan permanent comprehensive strategic partnership, saying that the significant meetings between the two heads of state in February this year are positive and practical with fruitful results. The Kazakh side is ready to work with the Chinese side to earnestly act on the important consensus reached by the two heads of state to usher in another three golden decades of bilateral relations. The Kazakh side has extended the visa-free period for Chinese citizens to 14 days, and expects to further facilitate personnel exchanges and deepen sub-national exchanges and cooperation between the two sides.

Tileuberdi thanked the Chinese side for supporting Kazakhstan in hosting the Summit of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA). Wang Yi said, the Chinese side supports the Kazakh side in giving play to its role as the CICA chairmanship to improve the CICA cooperation and make greater contributions to promoting regional security and development.

The two sides expressed that they will strengthen coordination within the SCO framework, and support Uzbekistan in assuming its responsibilities as the SCO chairmanship and holding a successful Samarkand Summit. The two sides call for concerted efforts to maintain the stability of industrial and supply chains and the smooth operation of China-Europe freight trains service, so as to play a constructive role in effectively responding to challenges of global food and energy security.

The two sides spoke highly of the function and prospect of the "China+Central Asia" (C+C5) cooperation mechanism. Both sides will implement the consensus of the virtual summit between the C+C5 heads of state, focus on priority areas such as transportation, economy and trade, investment, industry and agriculture, energy, customs, and people-to-people and cultural exchanges, and guide bilateral mutually beneficial cooperation to new levels.
