On November 1, 2022, Member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi had a phone call with French Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs Catherine Colonna at request.

Wang Yi said, the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC) has been successfully concluded. General Secretary Xi Jinping was unanimously re-elected, and it fully reflects the common will of the whole Party and the people. It ensures that China, like a giant vessel, will continue to sail forward along the established direction, riding the wind and cleaving the waves. The Congress has drawn up a blueprint for China's future development, injecting important certainty to the turbulent and uncertain world. The Congress reaffirmed China's independent foreign policy of peace. China will continue to uphold world peace, promote common development and provide great positive energy for the international community to tackle global challenges. China will maintain consistency and stability in its policies toward France and Europe. We stand ready to continuously enhance the China-EU comprehensive strategic partnership and deepen the China-France strategic coordination and cooperation. The two sides should jointly plan and design high-level exchanges and cooperation in various fields, so as to open up new prospects for China-France relations.

Colonna expressed that France and China have always maintained mutual trust and cooperation and jointly safeguarded world peace and stability. France hopes to keep closer high-level exchanges and in-depth communication with China to enhance mutual benefits and tackle common challenges.

The two sides also exchanged views on Ukraine, the Korean Peninsula and other issues of mutual concern.
