Lecture on Liberia Electoral System held in Chinese Embassy

At the invitation of the Chinese Embassy in Liberia, Hon. James M. Fromayan, Chairman of National Elections Commission (NEC) of Liberia held a lecture for the Embassy staff on Liberia's electoral system last Thursday, June 27, 2008.

 

In the lecture, Mr. Fromayan systematically elaborated on the origin, development and characteristics of Liberian electoral system and recalled the situations surrounding the presidential and general elections in 1985, 1997 and 2005. He also answered questions concerning the political party system in Liberia, the challenges facing the NEC and etc. The two sides also exchanged ideas on democracy, political parties and elections.

 

This lecture is the one of the Liberia Panorama Series hosted by the Chinese Embassy.

 

Mr. Fromayan is a senior politician in Liberia. He served as Co-Chairman of NEC during the 2005 presidential and general elections. In 2006, he was appointed NEC Chairman by President Sirleaf.
