On the evening of 16 July 2020, Chinese Ambassador-designate to Liberia, Mr. Ren Yisheng and his wife, Ms. He Yuhong, arrived in Monrovia,the capital of Liberia. Senior diplomats of the Chinese Embassy in Liberia and Mr. Lawrence Felex Amajie, Deputy Director-General of the Protocol Department of the Liberian Ministry of Foreign Affairs greeted him at the airport.

Mr. Lawrence, on behalf of the Liberian government, warmly welcomed Ambassador Ren's new designation in the country and spoke highly of the relationship between Liberia and China. He promised that the Liberian side would do its best to facilitate and support the ambassador's work and promote bilateral cooperation to achieve new outcomes continuously. He wished the ambassador and his wife success in their endeavors and a happy life in Liberia.

Ambassador Ren thanked the Liberian government for the warm welcome he and his wife had received and expressed his honour to be on a mission to Liberia. He looked forward to working with people from all walks of life in Liberia to overcome the current epidemic situation. The Chinese Embassy in Liberia is ready to work together with the Liberian side, to vigorously further all-sphere friendly and pragmatic cooperation between the two countries, link up the construction of the ‘Belt and Road initiative’ and the ‘Eight major initiatives for China-Africa cooperation ’ with the development strategy of Liberia, to better serve the well-being of our two peoples.
