Ladies and Gentlemen,

Good evening! It is my great pleasure to warmly welcome all the distinguished guests. In a few days, the Chinese people will celebrate July 1st, a momentous and solemn day marking  the 105th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China (CPC). Tonight, we gather here to celebrate this important milestone with a deep sense of pride and honor.

105 years ago, at a critical historical moment when the Chinese nation faced national subjugation and its people endured great suffering, the CPC was born. From the very day of its founding, the CPC has defined its original aspiration and mission as seeking happiness for the Chinese people and rejuvenation for the Chinese nation. History and practice have fully proven that the choice of the CPC was not a matter of historical chance, but an inevitable outcome made by the Chinese people through long-term exploration and struggle. It is under the CPC’s leadership that the Chinese nation brought an end to its century-long humiliation, which marked the beginning of a new epoch in China’s development.

Ladies and gentlemen,

Over the past 105 years, the CPC has remained faithful to its founding mission, united and led the Chinese people of all ethnic groups in making great achievements worthy of history and the people. The Chinese nation has achieved the tremendous transformation from standing up and growing prosperous to becoming strong, representing the most magnificent chapter in the millennia-long history of the Chinese nation.

The CPC has achieved great success in the new-democratic revolution. We toppled the “three mountains” of imperialism, feudalism, and bureaucrat-capitalism, established the People’s Republic of China. This brought a definitive end to China’s history as a semi-colonial and semi-feudal society, and achieved national independence and the liberation of the people. The Chinese people had stood up and the time in which the Chinese nation could be bullied and abused was gone forever.

The CPC  has achieved great success in socialist revolution and construction. We established socialism as basic system, built an independent and relatively complete industrial and national economic system, brought about the most extensive and profound social changes in the history of the Chinese nation, and achieved the great transformation from a poor and backward country in the East with a large population into a socialist country.

The CPC has achieved great success in reform, opening-up, and socialist modernization. We formulated the Party’s basic line for the primary stage of socialism. This enabled China to transform itself from a highly centralized planned economy to a socialist market economy brimming with vitality, and from a country that was largely isolated to one that is open to the outside world across the board. It also enabled China to achieve the historic leap from a country with relatively backward productive forces to the world’s second largest economy, and to make the historic transformation of raising the living standards of its people from bare subsistence to an overall level of moderate prosperity, and then ultimately to moderate prosperity in all respects.

The CPC has achieved great success for socialism with Chinese characteristics in the new era. We ushered socialism with Chinese characteristics into a new era and embarked on a new journey to build China into a modern socialist country in all respects. We have upheld and strengthened the Party’s overall leadership, overcome a long list of major risks and challenges, fulfilled the First Centenary Goal of building a moderately prosperous society in all respects, and set out strategic steps for achieving the Second Centenary Goal. Nearly 800 million rural people were lifted out of poverty, bringing about a historic resolution of the problem of absolute poverty. As a result, China has achieved historic achievements and undergone historic transformations. China’s national rejuvenation has become a historical inevitability.

Ladies and gentlemen,

The glorious journey of the CPC profoundly demonstrates the following:

Political parties must uphold a people-centered approach and serve the people wholeheartedly. The people are the creators of history and the fundamental force that determines the future and destiny of the Party and the country. The CPC comes from the people, is rooted in the people, and serves the people. Adhering to the principle that development is for, by, and shared among the people, the CPC takes their aspiration for a better life as its goal. Whether in poverty eradication, rural revitalization, or the development of education, healthcare, employment, elderly care, and other livelihood undertakings, the people-centered value orientation is evident in all. It is precisely because the CPC has always upheld the people-centered approach that it has consistently enjoyed the broad support and endorsement of the Chinese people. Currently, the CPC is conducting a study and education campaign to establish and practice a correct view of performance, which requires the entire Party to uphold the idea of achieving results for the people.  

Political parties must place great emphasis on Party building and have the courage to promote self-reform. The courage to engage in self-reform is one of the most distinctive hallmarks of the CPC and an important reason why it is still in prime after 105 years. The CPC has always adhered to the principle of full and rigorous self-governance, constantly improving its leadership and governance capacity. Especially since the start of the new era of socialism with Chinese characteristics, the Central Committee of the CPC with Comrade Xi Jinping at its core has put forward a series of new visions, new thinking, and new strategies regarding Party building, thereby forming Xi Jinping Thought on Party building. Guided by this thought, the CPC, with the courage to address its own shortcomings, resolutely combated corruption and misconduct at every turn, and continuously improved itself through self-purification, self-improvement, self-renewal, and self-enhancement, thus always remaining full of vitality and dynamism.

 Political parties must uphold the principle of independence and follow its own path. This is the historical conclusion that the CPC has drawn from over more than a century of struggle, as well as the secret behind China's continuous success. The CPC has always based the development of the country and the nation with its own strength. It has consistently proceeded from China's realities in exploring its path forward, neither copying foreign models nor relying on external handouts. Instead, it has continuously advanced theoretical, institutional, and development innovation through practice, and successfully forged a development path suited to China's national conditions. Practice has fully proven that a country's development path can only achieve lasting and steady progress when it is grounded in its own history, culture, stage of development, and actual national conditions.

Ladies and gentlemen,

The CPC has always been cogitating on the future of humanity with a global vision, and committing itself to the noble cause of peace and development.

The CPC stands ready to work with all countries to pursue happiness for the people. Guided by the spirit of openness and inclusiveness, we are willing to enhance mutual learning in such areas as Party building, state governance, economic development and improving people's well-being, jointly improve governance capacity and governing performance, better respond to the expectations of the people, enhance their well-being, and ensure that the benefits of development are shared more widely and equitably by all. We are also willing to strengthen exchanges and cooperation with political parties of all countries, Liberia included, on the basis of independence, complete equality, mutual respect, and non-interference in each other's internal affairs, so as to improve the well-being of the people.

The CPC stands ready to work with all countries to explore paths towards modernization. Achieving modernization is not "an exclusive patent" of a small handful of countries, but the common aspiration of all peoples.  We are willing to enhance exchanges with Liberia and other countries on development concepts in the spirit of equality, mutual learning, and win-win cooperation. Together, we will explore modernization paths that suit our respective national conditions, promote common development through mutual learning, and achieve shared prosperity through solidarity and cooperation.

The CPC stands ready to work with all countries to promote the building of a community with a shared future for mankind. In today’s world, the future and destiny of all countries are closely interconnected. Peace, development, cooperation and mutual benefit represent an unstoppable trend of the times. China is willing to work with Liberia and other countries to implement the Global Development Initiative, the Global Security Initiative, the Global Civilization Initiative, and the Global Governance Initiative, uphold true multilateralism, strengthen exchanges and mutual learning among civilizations, deepen friendship and cooperation, foster a more just and equitable global governance system, and jointly build an open, inclusive, clean and beautiful world that enjoys lasting peace, universal security and common prosperity, so as to create a brighter future for humanity.

Ladies and gentlemen,

105 years ago, at the time of its founding, the CPC had just over 50 members. The Chinese nation was shattered, declining and withering away.

Today, with more than 100 million members in a country of more than 1.4 billion people, the CPC is the largest governing party in the world and enjoys tremendous international influence. China is a thriving nation advancing with unstoppable momentum toward rejuvenation. China enjoys markedly stronger national strength and international standing, bringing greater prosperity to its people. The CPC is leading the Chinese people, marching on a new journey of struggle toward the Second Centenary Goal: building China into a great modern socialist country in all respects.
