On July 1, President Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, delivered an important speech at a ceremony marking the 105th anniversary of the founding of the CPC. He comprehensively reviewed and summarized the glorious journey and extraordinary achievements the CPC has united and led the Chinese people in accomplishing over the past 105 years, profoundly expounded the fine qualities that have enabled the CPC to keep writing brilliant chapters, put forward clear requirements of the "Five Musts" for all CPC members to be firm in confidence and carry the struggle forward, and issued a great call to the whole Party to forge ahead on the new journey and perform meritorious deeds in the new era.

The Century-Long Struggles of the CPC Have Established Great, History-Making Merits

The CPC’s 105-year history of struggle is a chronicle of continuously creating miracles and blazing new paths toward the future. Over the past 105 years, the CPC has held fast to its founding mission of seeking happiness for the Chinese people and rejuvenation for the Chinese nation. It has united and led the Chinese people of all ethnic groups in unremitting struggle, delivering twin miracles—rapid economic growth and long-term social stability—and composed magnificent chapters in the history of the Chinese nation and the progress of human society. This great historical practice has forged a strong CPC and demonstrated the powerful vitality of Marxism.

The CPC’s 105-year struggle has not only transformed China fundamentally but also profoundly shaped the course of world history. For many consecutive years, China has served as the primary engine of global economic growth, acting as a major trading partner for more than 160 countries and regions, and contributing over 70 percent to global poverty reduction. Joint efforts under the Belt and Road Initiative have deepened and delivered tangible outcomes, offering robust support for developing countries to upgrade infrastructure, boost connectivity, and strengthen independent development capacities. From advancing the building of a community with a shared future for mankind to putting forward the Global Development Initiative, Global Security Initiative, Global Civilization Initiative and Global Governance Initiative, China has always embraced a global vision, closely integrating its own development with that of the world. It creates new opportunities for the world through its own development, and provides valuable reference for all countries exploring their own paths to modernization via Chinese modernization.

The Century-Long Struggle Experience of the CPC is Invaluable.

Looking back on the extraordinary years, the reason why the CPC has been able to achieve one brilliant feat and why history and the people chose the CPC, lies fundamentally in the six fine qualities the Party possesses. It is resolutely committed to the pursuit of truth and has always kept a firm grip on the direction of advance. It is deeply rooted in the people and has always possessed a solid foundation. It bravely shoulders its historical mission and has always held the strategic initiative. It moves with the tide of development and has always stood at the forefront of the times. It is both willing and able to struggle and has always maintained the conviction of certain victory. It attends to keeping itself strong and has always been full of vigor and vitality. These fine qualities are not abstract political characters, but distinct political attributes tempered and refined unceasingly amid the great long-term practices of revolution, construction, reform and the new era. They profoundly answer two questions: why the CPC has sustained vigorous vitality through more than a century of trials and  storms, and why it can unite and lead the Chinese  people to attain one new great achievement  after another.  Collectively, these fine qualities form the code to the CPC’s march from victory to victory, and constitute the fundamental guarantee for realizing China’s governance and continuously opening new horizons for the cause of socialism with Chinese characteristics.

The Century-Long Struggle Spirit of the CPC Sets Sail for the Future.

History will shed light on the future, and the journey ahead will be a long one. Standing at a new historical starting point, the Chinese people led by the CPC are striding with confidence toward building China into a great modern socialist country in all respects and achieve the Second Centenary Goal. China's development is not intended to surpass or replace any other country. Rather, it is aimed at enabling more than 1.4 billion Chinese people to live happier and better lives, while contributing greater certainty and positive energy to global development.

In the world today, changes unseen in a century are accelerating, the deficits in peace, development, security and governance are continually growing. More than ever before, the international community needs solidarity and cooperation rather than division and confrontation, openness and win-win cooperation rather than decoupling, and fairness and justice rather than power politics and bullying. As a responsible major country, China has always stood firmly on the right side of history and on the side of human progress. China remains committed to true multilateralism, firmly upholds the international system with the United Nations at its core and the international order based on international law, advocates resolving differences through dialogue and consultation, and promotes common development, common security, and shared prosperity. China is committed to contributing Chinese wisdom, Chinese proposals, and Chinese strength to safeguarding world peace and promoting global development.

As the CPC embarks on a new journey after more than a century of remarkable achievements, the time is ripe for deepening mutually beneficial cooperation. Forged through over a century of endeavor, the CPC is advancing toward new goals with even greater confidence and resolve.
