Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Jiang Yu's Remarks
2010-12-10 20:40

Q: On 10 December, the Norwegian Nobel Committee held this year's Nobel Peace Prize Award Ceremony in Oslo. Do you have any comment?

A: We are firmly against the attempt by any country or individual to use the Nobel Peace Prize to interfere in China's internal affairs and infringe upon China's judicial sovereignty. Our just position has won the understanding and support of over 100 countries and major international organizations.

Facts have fully shown that the decision of the Norwegian Nobel Committee does not represent the wish of the majority of the people in the world, particularly that of the developing countries. Prejudice and lies are untenable and the Cold War mentality has no popular support. This political farce will in no way shake the resolve and confidence of the Chinese people to follow the path of socialism with Chinese characteristics, and the scheme by some people will get nowhere.
