Recently, Chinese Ambassador H.E. Mr. Ren Yisheng has met with former president of Liberia Madam Ellen Johnson Sirleaf and Ms. Stephene Audrey Kpoto, Program Director of Jewel StarFish Foundation and Dr. Julius Sarwolo Nelson, president of the University of Liberia (UL).

During the meeting with former president Sirleaf, the two sides exchanged views on the need to promote women development and the practice of fair employment opportunities for women. Ambassador Ren said that China has always attached great importance to promoting gender equality and the development of women's cause, and China is willing to work with Liberia to actively carry out cooperation in programs that support the good cause of women. On her part, former president Sirleaf thanked China for its long-term contribution to the cause of women in developing countries, and expressed hope for the strengthening of exchanges and cooperation with China to promote the continuous development of women's cause in the world. The two sides also exchanged views on agricultural cooperation between the two countries, and international solidarity to fight against COVID-19.

While meeting with Ms. Kpoto, the two sides exchanged views on further strengthening the protection of the rights and interests of women, children and vulnerable groups.

During the meeting with president Nelson, the two sides exchanged views on strengthening cooperation in the fields of culture, education and youth exchanges between the two countries.
