Chinese Ambassador H.E. Mr. Ren Yisheng attends the HIV/AIDS Roundtable Dialogue of Liberia

On December 3rd, Chinese Ambassador H.E. Mr. Ren Yisheng  attended the HIV/AIDS Roundtable Dialogue of Liberia and delivered a speech. Aroud 80 people attended the meeting, including H.E. Madam Clar Marie Weah, the First Lady of Liberia, Minister of Health, Minister of Gender, Children, and Social Protection and other senior government officials, representatives of UNAIDS and World Health Organization in Liberia, Council of Elders, Religious Council, civil society organizations and relevant sectors in Liberia.

Ambassador Ren spoke highly of the remarkable achievements by Liberia under the leader-ship of H.E. Madam Clar Weah in HIV/AIDS prevention and control. Ambassador Ren said that China has made significant progress in HIV/AIDS prevention and control,  actively participates in international cooperation in this regard and maintains long-term close cooperation with African countries. HIV/AIDS prevention and control has become an important area of cooperation under the framework of the China-Africa Cooperation Forum (FOCAC). Faced with the COVID-19 pandemic unseen in a hundred years, medical and health systems in countries around the world, especially in Africa, have been hit badly. China is willing to further strengthen China-Africa cooperation in the area of HIV/AIDS prevention and control.

H.E. First Lady Madam Clar Weah chaired the roundtable dialogue, pointed out the threat of HIV/AIDS, especially to women and children. She also highlighted the impact of COVID-19 and appealed for solidarity and strengthened public health so to end HIV/AIDS in Liberia by 2030.
